[printed January 2009 for December 2008]

Dear brethren,

Greetings from the Sextons. We hope that all had a happy holiday. We wish all of you a happy and healthy 2009, and increase in the Lord’s work. The end of 2008 was certainly an adventure for us (see Journal 2008, 12). It was an expensive trip, but necessary for us to take the motor home [MH] to Red Bay, AL for warranty work and then on to Texas in order to get the MH inspected there, and to take our driver’s license test in it – we both passed. We are now Texas residents which will help in the mission work. We had a very busy, tiring, but successful trip. We visited with many new congregations and gave out several work plans. By the way, if you do not have a work plan let me know. I was able to talk to several elders and tell them a little about what we are doing. I have been encouraged by meeting so many different brethren and by the interest shown by many of them. Several said they would try to help us knock doors next summer. This work should be especially appealing to those who have RVs or plan to buy one and, of course, who have a desire to do this type of evangelistic work. We appreciate those who have this desire and look forward to working with them.

As you will see here I have combined the church bulletin with this report, at least for the time, in order to save on cost of those we send out by U.S. mail. I have followed a straight down the line format for ease of reading for the email recipients. Do you have email? If so, it would help us if you would sign up to receive this bulletin by email. Please let us know by sending us an email [jpsexton@peoplepc.com] and put mission bulletin in the subject line.

We greatly appreciate you who have helped and are helping in this effort. We wish we could have had the time to visit each of you and thank you personally for all the support you have and are giving us in the work.

A Reminder From Our Lord And Our Needs

"Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest" (Mat. 9:37, 38). We are in need of others to go with us and help knock doors and preach. It would be especially helpful to find some brother or congregation who has a tent and would volunteer some time to preach in a meeting in one of these counties without the church.

We are still in need of financial support. If you know of others who may be able to help in this mission effort (by going with us or sending financial support), please let them know about it, or let us know and we will send them a copy of the work plan.

Please announce or put in your bulletin, etc., our need for workers. As God’s people we should radiate God’s love toward the lost (cp. II Cor.5:14: Eph. 3:19). We should obey and "Go" because of our love for God (John 14:15) and the lost.
