Who will be saved?  Answer: Matt. 7:21

What Must I Do To Be Saved?
by Perry Sexton

Man’s part of God’s plan of salvation is simple and easy to find and understand. The book of Acts show penitent people obeying the gospel as Jesus taught in the gospel accounts. Consider a few verses.

Jesus taught:

Faith and baptism: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 6:16).
Confession and repentance: “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 10:32, 33).  And: “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3, 5).

In the conversion accounts in the book of Acts we find the people that were saved (Acts 2:47), obeyed what the Savior taught:

♥  They repented and were baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38, 41).

♥  They believed and were baptized (Acts 8:12, 13; 16:31, 33).

♥  They were baptized (Acts 9:18 cp. 22:16; 10:48; 16:15).

It is obvious all of these followed the complete steps or plan of salvation.  The natural order being: faithrepentanceconfession of Christ and baptism for the remission of sins which places those then saved “in Christ,” His church (Rom. 6:3; Gal. 3:27, below) where salvation is (2 Tim. 2:10; Eph. 5:26, 27, below).

♥  Romans 6:3 “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?”

♥  Galatians 3:27 “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

Salvation is only in Christ and none other:

♥  2 Timothy 2:10 “Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.”

♥  Ephesians 5:26, 27 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

♥  Every doctrine of man is a false way: Matthew 15:8, 9; 2 John 9.

♥  Every church of man shall be rooted up: Matthew 15: 13, 14; see also chapter 7:13-27.

There is only one way of salvation as given by God’s Word; all who follow man will be lost (see above Scriptures).

All who will be saved must hear the truth and obey the truth by repenting of sins; confessing Christ; and being baptized for the remission of sins (see above Scriptures).

♥  The saved are then added to the church of Christ (Acts 2:47).

♥  The saved must then be faithful to the Lord (Heb. 3:6; Rev. 2:10).

Will you obey the Savior (Hebrew 5:8, 9) and be saved eternally (Matt. 7:21, see contexts)?
